TOPIC/ THEME: SOCIAL ISSUES (FORM 3)

LEARNING OUTCOMES: At the end of the lesson, students would be able to:
2.3 Present information to different audiences by:
a. writing recounts, descriptions, explorations, speeches, reports and articles.
8 Connectors
ii. sequence connectors.

TIME : 40 minutes

CLASS: Lower Intermediate

ACTIVITY:
1. Matching up words (logical connectors)
2. Write an article

PROCEDURES:
1. Teacher introduces some common logical connectors to the students.
i.e.

Firstly______ After that_____ Next Lastly
Then_____ Secondly______ Fourthly ______Finally
Thirdly_____ Lastly______ To sum up

2. Teacher distributes the article on the effects and benefits of spending time on the computer. (Handout 1)
3. Students read and identify the logical connectors used in the text. ( students read and underline them).
4. Activity: teacher distributes handout 2. Students have to put the logical connector learnt into groups (as many as possible) (Handout 2)
5. Students rewrite the article using the new logical connectors learnt.
